The domestic services department offers help to older people (over 55s) in Rotherham by providing assistance with domestic tasks within the client's own home.
Below is a summary of the main tasks that we cover:-
General Cleaning
- living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms & stairs - including dusting, vacuuming floors and wiping paintwork
- bathroom - including washing or vacuuming floors, wiping paintwork, cleaning bath shower/sink/toilet
- cleaning kitchen - including washing or vacuuming floor wiping paintwork all surfaces cupboard fronts, cleaning inside fridges/microwave
- all internal windows ( within safety limits )
Special requests
- putting laundry in and out of washer
- putting laundry on clothes' dryer
- ironing
- turning single mattresses
- moving furniture to clean underneath ( within safety limits )
- cleaning inside cookers
- cleaning inside cupboards
- cleaning inside drawers
- sorting and tidying of cupboards
- shopping ( receipts always provided )
Permitted tasks for two workers ( within safety limits and subject to availability )
- deep cleans (spring cleans)
- wiping walls down
- cleaning windows that are difficult to reach
- turning double mattresses
- moving furniture in order to clean underneath
Domestic workers are not permitted to:-
- carry out personal care of any sort
- clean ceilings
- clean up excrement ( human or animal )
- work in homes with infestations of any vermin
- wipe exterior paintwork
- take wheelie bins to pavement
- kneel to clean floor surfaces
A quality service you can trust
Our team of domestic workers operate to a high standard of training and customer care, offering quality, safety and reliability. You can be confident that all our staff are police checked. Our senior domestic workers assess the standard of work and will arrange to visit you to carry out a quality check and ensure that you are completely satisfied with the service. You will receive a copy of our complaints procedure when we write to you to confirm the start date of the service.
The Assessment Visit
If you book our service, a senior domestic worker will visit you to assess and agree the domestic tasks that you require. We will assign a regular worker to you at a specified time on agreed days.
Service Charge
The cost of the service is £10 per hour and the minimum visit is for two hours which may be either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. If we do not immediately have a worker available in your area we will put your name on a waiting list. Your custom is valuable to us so we will do our best to locate a worker for you as soon as possible
We charge a one-off payment of £15.00 to cover administration costs.
However new clients taking up the service will receive their first hour FREE
Payment
You can choose to pay the domestic worker in cash or by cheque or we can invoice you for payment every month. The payment method will be agreed during the assessment visit.
Cancellations
Please let us have at least 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel a visit. Failure to inform us will result in a one hour charge unless the cancellation is due to an unexpected medical emergency. If a domestic worker is sick or on holiday we will inform you as soon as possible. We will do our best to provide cover but cannot guarantee that a worker is available in your area or at a time to suit you.
Our Commitment to your Safety
At Age Concern Rotherham, we pride ourselves on our commitment to the well being and safety of all our customers. If on a scheduled visit the domestic worker is unable to gain entry it is our policy to take appropriate action to find out if there is any cause for concern including contacting next of kin and neighbours. If there is reasonable cause for concern and particularly if we hear an alarm sounding at the property we will contact the emergency services.
Mutual Respect
We ask that you treat our workers with the same respect and courtesy they will give you at all times. If you smoke please limit your smoking in areas where staff are working to reduce the risks to their health.
