Volunteering
Age Concern Rotherham currently works with over 100 volunteers. These men and women are essential to the work of the organisation and it would be true to say that we could not provide our wide range of services without their support.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering can be a way of putting your skills to good use. This could mean anything from helping in a day centre to arranging for emergency heating for an isolated older person. Everybody has something worth sharing and volunteering can be a way of realising this potential.

What do Volunteers do?

  • Work in day centers under the supervision of a trained member of staff
  • Tasks may include assisting with recreational activities, serving meals or refreshments and acting as an escort on one of our vehicles
  • Visit older people in their own homes to provide friendship and practical information
  • Work in an office
  • Driving or escorting on minibuses

What can Volunteers expect from Age Concern Rotherham?

Although not always necessary we can provide training sessions for volunteers who are interested in developing particular skills or areas of knowledge relating to older people.
Volunteers are guaranteed the support of Age Concern Rotherham staff and are not expected to deal with situations with which they feel unable to cope. The key to volunteering is that volunteers are able to define the type of work they feel able to undertake.
